Why choose a .CENTER domain?

A centre is not a shop: it is a point people converge on. They come from several directions, for different reasons, and it is that movement towards one point that defines the word. One practical note: the suffix exists only in the American spelling. There is no .centre — so if your sign says “centre”, the address will not match it letter for letter, and it is better to know that first.

The service centre

A physical place people come to in order to sort something out. Address, hours, what to bring: three facts, looked for in that order.

The community centre

Activities, bookings, room hire, volunteering. A site serving people of every age, many of whom use no apps at all.

The data centre

Location, redundancy, power, certifications. A technical audience that reads precise specifications before speaking to anyone.

The contact centre

Capacity, languages, hours, sectors covered. A service bought on figures and on references.

The spelling

“Center” in America, “centre” in Britain and much of the Commonwealth. If your registered name uses “re”, expect the address to differ by one letter.

What it actually changes

• It names a point of convergence. That is what separates it from .zone, which marks out a territory, and .place, which only locates.
• It exists only in the American spelling. Check it against your registered name before choosing, because it cannot be corrected afterwards.
• No registration restrictions. No charitable status or licence to show the registrar.
• It works as an email address too. reception@northern.center implies a place, not only a website.
